The "Know Your Numbers" Financial Snapshot

This month's prompt is perfect whether you're a State Farm agent, a trucking company owner, or any small business. It gives you an instant financial health check — the kind of clarity most business owners don't get until their CPA delivers the tax return (months after it matters).

"I want you to act as my financial analyst. Here is my business bank statement for last month [paste or upload statement]. Please analyze it and give me:

1. Total income vs. total expenses (and the difference)
2. My top 5 expense categories ranked by amount
3. Any transactions that look unusual or out of pattern
4. A simple cash flow trend — am I trending up or down?
5. One specific recommendation to improve my bottom line next month

Keep it simple and direct. Talk to me like a business advisor, not an accountant."

Five things you can try with Claude right now (no Business Command Center required):

1. Summarize a document in 30 seconds. Upload any PDF — a contract, a policy, a report — and ask Claude to give you the key takeaways. Works beautifully with those 40-page documents nobody actually reads.
2. Draft an email you've been putting off. Tell Claude the situation, the tone you want, and who it's going to. You'll have three versions in 20 seconds. Edit the best one and hit send.
3. Create a professional bio for yourself. Tell Claude your background, your business, and what makes you different. Ask for versions in 50 words, 100 words, and 250 words. Use them everywhere — LinkedIn, website, event programs.
4. Turn meeting notes into action items. After your next meeting, dump your messy notes into Claude and ask: "Extract every action item, who's responsible, and suggested deadlines." Your team will think you hired an assistant.
5. Ask Claude to explain your own finances to you. Upload your P&L or tax return and say: "Explain this to me like I'm smart but not an accountant. What should I be concerned about?" You'll understand your numbers better in 5 minutes than you have all year.

Q: "Is it safe to share my financial data with AI?"

This is the number one question we hear, and it's a great one. The short answer: Claude doesn't store your conversations or use your data to train its models. Your information stays in your conversation.

Think of it like talking to a trusted advisor in a private room. The conversation exists while you're having it. Claude doesn't go home and tell its friends about your balance sheet.

That said, here are smart practices we recommend:

• ✓ Use a dedicated business Gmail and Claude account (separate from personal)
• ✓ Never share Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, or passwords

• ✓ Remember: Claude is a thinking partner, not a storage system
